Safely Deployed Tactics Sequence (SADTACS)

While traditional Use of Force education provides a necessary foundation, the landscape of law enforcement is ever-changing. DEP Tactical builds upon these traditional styles by introducing a critical new skill set: the ability to Safely Deploy a Tactic Sequence (SADTACS).

Our curriculum examines the complex factors officers must weigh to minimize injury to themselves and the subjects they encounter. We move beyond simple mechanics to teach the deployment of tactics. By ingrained these steps through repetition, safe tactical decision-making becomes "Fusion Thought"—a subconscious, immediate response.

Our Core Philosophy:
The Endgame: Lawful control.
The Forethought: Safety for both the officer and the subject.
The Accountability: Recognizing excessive force, avoiding impractical modes of control, and mastering the categorization and articulation required for accurate report writing.

Injury Prevention Techniques (IPT)

Learn how to minimize potential injuries and mitigate personal damage during physical altercations, specifically when knocked to the ground or against objects. This section covers methods to dissipate impact forces and effectively protect vital body areas and internal organs.

Assailer Suppression Techniques (AST)

In this module, students learn how to defend against various forms of unwanted physical contact. The curriculum focuses on non-complex, high-percentage techniques that are essential for fending off assaults and escaping from attacks.

Persons Opposing Defiantly and Person Resisting Force (P.O.D. & P.E.R.F. Techniques)

In this block of instruction is typically where most time is spent in defensive tactics training for law enforcement officers. Here students learn how to overcome resistance from a POD & PERF under lawful direction and basic control techniques. These individuals are broken into two sub-categories, Passive Defiance, PODs and Active Resistance, PERFs. Techniques are learned on how to successfully navigate this within the respective SADTACS model. This block of instruction utilizes basic body mechanics through joint manipulation, arm bars and immobilizing techniques. Lastly, we can also implement the utilization of a hobble and/or a collapsible baton for extreme resistance if your agency is authorized.

Cooperative and Verbally Controlled Subjects (CVCS)

In this course, students learn techniques to establish control and lawfully detain compliant subjects using tactical handcuffing. The curriculum covers proper restraint application across various operational environments and subject positions (standing, kneeling, prone).

Strike Weapons/Aid of Control Instruments (SW/ACI)

Designed for agencies authorizing collapsible batons, this course validates the baton as an essential, versatile tool for law enforcement. Students will learn to effectively deploy this weapon system against assailants and active resisters, ensuring all techniques are applied within the appropriate use of force continuum.

Weapon Retention and Disarming (WRD)

Complementing our advanced firearms training, this course teaches specific, high-probability techniques for successfully retaining a duty weapon and disarming an assailant. Weapon retention is a critical survival skill for any officer carrying a firearm on duty. This module covers strategies for both handguns and long-guns, ensuring students can protect their own weapon systems and neutralize threats armed with rifles or shotguns.

Pepper Spray or Oleoresin Capsicum (LEO-OC)

Within the SADTACS model, this block instructs officers on simple, proven tactics to achieve effective spray contact with a subject. Although frequently underutilized, OC spray is a highly effective, non-lethal control option. This course highlights how OC serves as a versatile and cost-effective resource for agencies when integrated properly into defensive tactics.

Law Enforcement Room Clearing and Movement (LEO-Move)

This course teaches both static and dynamic movement techniques for officers required to clear and secure structures. We cover critical low-light methodology, including proper flashlight techniques and manipulation. This training serves as a definitive team-building experience, instilling confidence in students during structural clearance operations. The curriculum is adaptable and can be hosted at multiple locations to maximize attendance.
